Work Experience Program
The goal of the Work Experience Program of the Southern Worcester County Educational Collaborative is to promote maximum development of community usage and entry-level employment skills as well as preparing students for the transition to adult services.
Students are assisted performing jobs in the community at various businesses and agencies, by a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Job Coaches and Teacher Assistants.
The program services students ages 16 to 22 with a wide variety of functioning levels. These levels range from severely to mildly disabled. Students should be able and willing to access the community for at least four hours per day, five days per week. Students should be able to maintain appropriate levels of behavior while in the community.
The program runs a six-week summer component for those students identified as in need of an extended school program. Individualized vocational training leading to entry-level employment on weekends or evenings is available. Students in this program have access to therapeutic services as needed.
