Applying Strategy Instruction CCSS: Reading and Writing

Friday, January 14th, 2022 | 8:00am - 2:15pm *Please register by December 22nd

In this professional development teachers will extend their knowledge of research based instructional strategies in reading and writing to help students access the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). There will be a focus on implementing best practices in instruction, utilizing both the Gradual Release of Responsibility Model (GRMM) and Systematically Designed Instruction (SDI). Teachers will have opportunities for hands-on activities and peer discussion and collaboration. Through our workshop model teachers will plan and create scaffolds and lessons to implement back in their classrooms.

Mara Power, M.Ed - has over 17 years of experience in the field of education, both as a teaching consultant and an educator. As a consultant, she has a passion for motivating, problem solving and encouraging teachers by offering constructive feedback and validation.

Michelle Mercurio, M.Ed - has over 15 years of experience in the field of education, both as a teaching consultant and an educator. As a teaching consultant and coach, her work focuses on inclusive practices, collaboration and systematically designed instruction.
